There is nothing on this list that requires a change of clothes, only great food without pretense.
Wilmington and the surrounding harbor are known for excellent Seafood and authentic Mexican Food, (not to mention our world-class Chili Cheese Dogs). Be adventurous and you will be delighted. Be sure to check the hours of operation, a few hot spots are only open for breakfast and lunch – a hold over from the Port working hours.

This is a lovely, family owned teahouse that specializes in loose-leaf tea, tea lattes, and handcrafted tea blends. They help you find the best tea for your needs and taste buds. Food-wise, the bagels are amazing, and they have a good selection of breakfast items, wraps, and paninis. They do coffee very well too; try the cold brew, café con leche, lattes, and frapps.

The only disappointment with this place is it is only open from 8:30 AM to 4 PM, Mon-Fri. The variety and freshness of the fish is world-class and their signature sauce has been marveled at by some of LA’s best restaurateurs. This all comes in a fast causal format with a large outdoor seating area, as well as a nicely decorated seafood warehouse motif.

This old school pizza place makes a solid Chicago style pizza. The salad bar provides a cold, crisp, lettuce and the basic fixings. There is also a very mini arcade inside to pass the time until the pie is done.

Wilmington is home to America’s Port® which creates an industrial shoreline, but if you plug this destination into your navigator, you will find yourself in middle of a delightful little marina and a charming café. It’s a breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot, with occasional entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays.

Stop here for lunch or an early dinner; they close up at 6. The menu is refreshingly brief. The most popular dish is the Chile Verde Dinner, but the chef will also make a mean crispy carnitas salad if you ask. The place is not fancy and you won’t notice when the food comes and satisfies your hunger.

Yes, it is actually a restaurant on a barge. It will take an adventurous spirit to find, but it is well worth the effort. The clam chowder is excellent and beer prices are refreshing.

This is a breakfast and lunch place only and their focus has paid off. Everything tastes homemade. The line to get in on the weekend is worth it. Put your name in and bring the paper to read.
